Last weekend, Travis and I went with friends to San Diego. We were there for four days and had the best time. The weather was great while we were there and we got to do a lot of exploring.
Our plane left so early on Saturday. We wanted as much time as possible in San Diego...
Made it to the hotel, dropped our bags, and headed to the Air and Space Museum.
I took so many pictures of all the amazing things they had on display. It is fascinating to see the progression of airplanes over the years.
Next up, Automobile Museum. I was constantly taking pictures of things to show my kids. Like this Lamborghini. I knew that Colson would love it...
And I can never pass up anything Sinclair...
Our third museum of the day was the model train museum. I can't imagine the time the volunteers have put into making these displays. It was a huge building with all kinds of trains set up.
And...a Sinclair gas station! All working parts, so cool.
We also managed to fit in the Natural History Museum but by this time we were all really hungry and tired so I didn't take a single picture. All the buildings were so beautiful. I loved looking at all the different architectures that were represented in San Diego.
This Banyan tree was beautiful. They had it gated off so people couldn't climb on it. The only other Banyan tree that I've seen was in Hawaii.
We enjoyed almost every meal on the water while we were there. If not dinner, we would grab drinks.
I also appreciated all the plants. I was constantly taking pictures of them saying that I wanted them in my home. Unfortunately, I don't have the best luck with house plants.
I mean, how cool was this one?!
I love that we get to travel and go on adventures together!
Sunday we were up bright and early for breakfast! If you're ever in San Diego, go to Breakfast Republic! It was so good that we went back on Monday!
We all appreciated their cleaver sayings...
After breakfast, we went the the Midway Aircraft Carrier.
This was what Travis was most looking forward to.
From the Midway, we could see three other Navy aircraft carriers that were at the base.
We were able to see and get in several of the different airplanes.
If you go, I recommend planning all day. We left in the early afternoon but we could have easily stayed until they closed at 4:30 to see more things.
I had to get a picture of the famous statue.
This was a highlight from our trip!
After we left the Midway, we headed to Joe's Crab Shack. I'd never had crab before and I was very impressed. It won't be the last time for me.
Kacie and I went into the shops along the water while the guys found a pub to drink beer. We enjoyed some coffee and shopping.
At the end of the night, we enjoyed a "bike ride" to Little Italy...
This is such a cool spot of San Diego! We wanted pizza and were told this was the place.
Monday, we started our day at the zoo with these two as tour guides...
I'm always amazed at the zoos in bigger cities. The amount of animals they have is unreal.
I tried to find all my kid's favorite animals. Colson is obsessed with toucans and so this was a must!
The koala bears were fun to see!
It was a fun morning, however, I think it would have been a lot more fun with the kids!
Okay, the amount of fish tacos that I ate while in San Diego is somewhat embarrassing. Every place we went, I think I ordered them! I don't regret it!
Travis headed back to the hotel and the rest of us went to this lighthouse.
Our original plan was to hike up to the lighthouse but we ended up down at the tide pools...
It was so beautiful!
I didn't want Travis to miss out...
We sat and watched airplanes and helicopters take off and land from the Naval base for a long time. They would fly right in front of us. The Coast Guard was out flying also. |
And the reason we were in San Diego.....the Ballpark!
Travis and I have a goal to visit each ballpark together. This is going to take us years to accomplish but I love that we're doing this together! Petco Park is one of our favorites. It's in the middle of the city but there is so much to offer inside the park. The food options were endless.
I'm thankful these two put up with a baseball game for us!
The bullpens for both teams...
I know I've said this a million times, but being at the ballpark is one of my very favorite places!
We sat on the third base line this game since it's the visiting teams dugout. During warmups, one of the players threw Travis a ball. I didn't think the night could get better for him...
Until Tovar caught a line drive and threw it to Travis's favorite player Ryan McMan. Travis called his name and he threw it to him. A game ball....really made him happy!
I love being so close to the action!
On our last day, the guys his the golf course!
While Kacie and I went and explored Mission Beach. We started with coffee and Buzz.
It was so good...
I had their avocado toast and I'm still thinking about it!
Then we walked down the boardwalk and went into the shops..
Found the cutest place to stay if we ever come back.
It was a fun morning!
We got back to Idaho very late on Tuesday night....
Whenever we go to a baseball game, we always come home and watch the game on tv. This time, we were surprised to see two Rockies fans that looked very familiar!
Now, I'm ready to plan our next trip to another ballpark!
